Contacting Your Instructors

In distance education courses—just as in traditional classroom courses—it is important for students and instructors to talk to each other. We encourage you to be in frequent contact with your course instructors. If you have questions or comments for your instructors, you may include them with your assignments, call during your instructors’ office hours, or in many cases, email your instructors directly.

Important: Direct all academic questions to your instructor before contacting the Independent Study Program office.

By Telephone

Course instructors’ office hours vary. Shortly after you register for a course, call 800.334.1011 to learn your course instructor’s office hours. You may then call this number during these hours when you want to speak with your instructor. We’ll transfer your calls to your instructor free of charge.

By Email

All online course instructors and most correspondence course instructors can be contacted via email. Call 800.334.1011 to get your instructor’s email address. In addition, online students can find their instructor’s email address on the Registration Info screen of their course. When emailing your instructor, be sure to include the course number in the subject line of your message (this will help instructors who teach several courses).
