Hello, and welcome to the online home of the Master of Science in Adult
Education. Like most adults thinking about the next
phase of their professional development, you may have many questions
about starting a graduate degree - especially one that is online! We
have been teaching online since 1998, and so we have some experience
with the types of questions you may ask. Therefore, the information
in the Prospective Students section and the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section is designed to
help answer common questions about procedures and processes.
I encourage you to take the Readiness Index for Learning Online to help better understand how your learning preferences relate to
being an online student. One of the most common comments I hear is, "I
don't know if I'd like an online course because I'm a people person. I
think I'll miss the social part of the classroom." My response is that
you'll be surprised how much social interaction there is in an online
course! Through the discussion forums, web conferencing, chats, and email, students not only learn
about the theory and practice of adult education, but share
examples of situations and case studies based on professional
workplace experiences. Students and faculty get to know each other personally through
these stories, as well as through sharing information and
celebrating getting a promotion or a new employer, going on vacation,
having babies, and the success of a spouse or child graduating from
college.
By taking the core courses in the Master of Science in Adult Education program, you will get a strong foundation in the
theory and practice of adult development and learning, designing
educational programs, and instructional design. The program also gives
you the flexibility to use more than one-third of the credits for the
degree to design a professional focus area. It is our goal to provide you with a wonderful educational experience. The best testimony of a program is found in the experience of its graduates, so I ask you to read the profiles of some of our graduates. Learn about the impact of the ACE degree on their lives and professional development.
Most of all, I want you to know that our faculty and staff are here to serve you. Whenever you have questions or concerns, you may contact us.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our Web site.
Best wishes,

Dr. Frank DiSilvestro
