81S - Understanding and Improving Memory (Basic Skills Development)

Online / Correspondence
Introduces a variety of memory techniques. Includes strategies of memorizing, using mnemonics (including link, place, and phonetic systems), and remembering names. Emphasizes doing rather than knowing. Students who complete the course should have significantly improved memories. NOTE: Online course requires Microsoft Word.

82L - Literature of the Future (Themes in Literature)

Online / Correspondence
Students probe the future by reading high-interest novels. An underlying idea is that imaginative thought about what could happen in the future makes students more aware of life today. NOTE: Online course requires Microsoft Word.

83L - Mythology (Genres of Literature)

Online / Correspondence
Exposes students to the mythology of a number of cultures and, through mythology, makes students aware of timeless human interests paralleling their own. Emphasizes Greek mythology, since its essential characteristic is humanism. NOTE: Online course requires Microsoft Word.

91S - Studying in College and Other Places (Basic Skills Development)

Correspondence
Straightforward, practical instruction on overcoming studying difficulties. Focuses on easily applied study techniques, including economical ways to schedule time; advantages and disadvantages of various methods of note taking; and how to mark books, take notes, and answer exam questions.
