If you are a service member and want DANTES to reimburse your tuition, obtain a completed DANTES form (1562/31) from your education center and submit it with your application. You need to pay the full fee up front, but DANTES will reimburse 75 percent of your tuition after you complete your course. If you are taking more than one course, submit a DANTES form for each course.
If you are a service member wanting tuition assistance, obtain an authorized tuition assistance application from your education center and submit it with your enrollment form. The responsible service pays 75 to 100 percent of your tuition fees. You pay the remainder of the tuition fee, as well as all nontuition costs (textbooks, learning guides, deposits). Send your payment with your course enrollment form.

If you are on the Bloomington campus, you may not count Independent Study Program courses toward full-time status and, when taken alone, your Independent Study Program courses do not qualify for loan deferment. We provide written verification of your enrollment for the purpose of verifying student status for insurance coverage and employers; however, only the registrar can provide an official certification of your student status. Other campuses' policies may vary, so check with your registrar's office for specific policies regarding these issues on your campus. Independent Study Program courses might qualify for a loan deferment if you are an undergraduate student who's been admitted to the universitywide General Studies Degree Program and if you are completing your degree entirely through the Independent Study Program.
